DeSoto ISD is proud to celebrate its teaching staff during the 2021 Teacher Appreciation Week, May 3-7, 2021. This annual week of celebration brings a national focus to the intentional heart work of educating children and preparing the next generation of leaders.
Teachers are essential workers and change the lives of millions of children every day. In a year where instruction could be virtual, in-person or a mix of both, teachers are constantly adapting to produce excellence in the classroom and provide a much-needed sense of community and connection for families.
The importance and value of the teaching profession were displayed widely during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the commitment of teachers to find a way to continue instruction and student engagement.
Many teachers worldwide and in DeSoto ISD learned new methods of instructional delivery and learning, increased their use of technology, provided technical support for students, academic support for parents amongst others. Teachers turned their homes into workspaces and spent many hours planning and teaching their students while often educating their own children.
DeSoto ISD Superintendent Dr. D’Andre Weaver expressed his heartfelt gratitude for district teachers and their perseverance during these changing times.
“Thank you for your service and commitment to our students and community. You are instrumental in our success as a district and I want to personally say that you are valued, your time and engagement is the foundation of our ability to do what we do, and YOU are the cornerstone of what makes DeSoto ISD such an incredible place to learn and work,” said Dr. Weaver.
DeSoto ISD teachers are working hard daily to ensure every student has the tools they need to reach their full potential.
