Health Benefits
Medical - DeSoto ISD contributes $351 per month toward any plan selected by the employees. This is the State of Texas Health Insurance Plan and enhanced plans are available for employees and their families.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - Provided at no additional cost for employees/families. Monthly newsletters covering a variety of topics such as money management and health issues; as well as counseling, legal, and financial advice
Employee Assistance Program Highlights
Wellness Program - DeSoto ISD provides a variety of activities free to all DeSoto ISD employees. The "Time Out" program offers opportunities for increased physical fitness and decreased mental stress. Some of the activities include team volleyball, bowling, golf, aerobics, and a walking/jogging unit. Periodic seminars are also offered on topics such as CPR and relieving stress.

Employee Extras
New Teacher Orientation and Reception - The district provides information seminars and training for all employees new to the district. This will assure that our new team members have a smooth transition adjusting to their new district.
TxBess - Training is offered by the Region 10 Educational Service Center to give first-year employees up-to-date information on current trends in education. A mentor program is also available to assist teachers who are beginning a career in education.
Team Teaching - DeSoto ISD uses interdisciplinary teaming to provide students and teachers an opportunity to create a family environment.
Vertical/Horizontal Teaming - Communication between campuses is very important to assure that quality education becomes an ongoing process.
Technology - The Department of Technology Services exists to provide cutting-edge productivity tools for students, teachers, administrators, and district staff. The district maintains a robust Wide Area Network (WAN) that ensures Internet and e-mail connectivity to all campuses. Every day students and teachers engage in interactive teaching and learning by accessing the Internet, communicating via e-mail, and producing presentations that display the outcome of their efforts.
