DeSoto High School P-TECH will accept applications for rising 9^th graders who possess a strong work ethic and the commitment to complete one of the pathways offered in the program. Students can choose either the Patient Care Technician pathway or the Automotive pathway.

PTECH’s primary focus is on providing students from underrepresented backgrounds (i.e. at-risk, low income and/or first-generation college attendees) the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits while attending high school. As a designated P-TECH we must target students from underrepresented backgrounds; however, we encourage students of all backgrounds to apply.

The criteria for selecting students for admission into DeSoto High School P-TECH Program are as follows:

The applicant must meet the requirements for promotion from 8th grade to 9th grade.

The student must have a desire to be a part of the PTECH program and be able to explain this in a written essay following specific guidelines.
The applicant must have completed all sections of the application for admission.

The student’s parent and/or guardian must want their child to be part of the program.

Both the parent/guardian and student must agree to abide by the standards of academic and behavioral expectations of PTECH.

Both the parent and student must agree to comply with all the policies of the program including the Electronic Information resource agreement for issued devices.

Both parent and student must agree that the ultimate goal is to graduate from DeSoto PTECH with college credits as planned.
