DeSoto ISD is proud to announce we will engage in neighborhood walks starting July 31 through August 12, 2023. The end goal is to build relationships with community members and families before the first day of school: Monday, August 14, 2023.
Teachers, administrators, and additional staff will walk the streets making their way through DeSoto and Glenn Heights neighborhoods. Apartment communities will also be visited by the district. DeSoto ISD will connect with current and prospective scholars, and their families, to discuss the exciting programs and opportunities the district has to offer. Among these enriching programs is the DeSoto ISD Triple-A Experience! This is the district’s holistic and well-rounded approach to education through academics, arts, and athletics.
After considering feedback received from recent touch points during the previous academic year, current district leaders are working to rebuild relationships and connectedness with families so families get to know the educators who who serve your scholars at each school. DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers spoke of the upcoming school year, “We want to continue to reintroduce ourselves and rebuild those connections to re-engage our families and the DeSoto and Glenn Heights communities.”
“Relationships are the core of our ability to serve our families and scholars effectively,” said Rodgers. “Relationships are the means by which we will build trust and connection to create partnerships with our families to build a village of well-rounded covering and partnership to fully serve our scholars.”
In the coming weeks, DeSoto and Glenn Heights residents may experience a visit from a DeSoto ISD staff member to share information and understand experiences and sentiments related to experiences in the school district. In addition, staff members will share information related to academic programs, opportunities, and enrollment in the district for the upcoming academic year.
Current and prospective families can enroll in DeSoto ISD online at DeSotoISD.org/Enrollment or visit the district in-person during the DeSoto ISD Back-To-School Fair in the Multipurpose Activity Center at DeSoto High School located at 600 Eagle Drive in DeSoto. This year, the event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 5, 2023.
