Texas Trust continues to pour into the students and families of DeSoto ISD. In 2022, Texas Trust provided a grant to buy instruments for hundreds of DeSoto ISD students to rent and play. This initiative also paid for many broken band instruments to be repaired. The funding from Texas Trust allowed hundreds of students that would have otherwise been unable to participate in such an enriching experience able to play proudly with their peers. The former Fine Arts Executive director worked with Texas Trust to allow these DeSoto scholars this and future opportunities. Current Interim Deputy Chief of CCMR and Fine Arts Nicholas Johnson spoke highly of the ways that learning and playing music can improve students' opportunities for scholarships as well as their academic success. “I have known many students that have left DeSoto able to get scholarships because of their involvement in the band. I am proud that this partnership allowed for so many other students that wouldn’t have had that opportunity due to financial constraints to have that door opened for them now.”
