DHS Student Receives QuestBridge Scholarship

The DeSoto Independent School District is proud to announce that DeSoto High School Class of 2021 student, Lauryn Piggatt is a recipient of the 2020 QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship.

Out of over 18,500 applicants, Piggatt is among the 1,464 students across the nation to receive the Match Scholarship.

“This scholarship has opened the doors to financial freedoms I did not think was possible, “said Piggatt. “The QuestBridge scholarship has provided me with the opportunity to explore my career field at the university of my choice. The QuestBridge Scholars Network provides social and academic support that will enrich my experience at Rice University. My family and I are grateful to receive the QuestBridge full-tuition academic scholarship. Hoot! hoot!”  

Recipients of the Match Scholarship are offered early admission and full four-year tuition covered to any of QuestBridge’s university and college partners which include Columbia, Duke, Standard, Yale and Piggatt’s selection, Rice University.

Most students that are awarded this amazing scholarship opportunity have an average unweighted GPA of 3.93, and 94% are in the top 10% of their graduating class. Of the students who reported standardized testing, 82% scored above 1260 on the SAT and 84% scored above 27 on the ACT.
