For the second consecutive year, DeSoto Independent School District has teamed up with the City of DeSoto and the City of Glenn Heights to provide information to voting-eligible students at DeSoto High School to engage them in civic engagement around voting.
The event was organized by the DHS Social Studies Teacher and Department Chair Marques Cameron who emphasized the importance of voting and its relevance to student’s lives and experiences.

DHS students were presented with information on the importance of voting, provided an application to register to vote in upcoming elections and presented information regarding training and service opportunities as student poll workers. Both City of DeSoto Mayor Rachel Proctor and City of Glenn Heights Mayor Sonja A. Brown attended the event to encourage students’ civic engagement and more deeply emphasize the importance of voting and voter awareness.
