DeSoto Independent School District has again been selected as one of a number of area school districts to participate in the Kroger Dallas Division annual Backpack Boosters school supply drive, which benefits underserved students in independent school districts located in Dallas/Fort Worth, East Texas and Northwest Louisiana. Contributions made to this effort will help provide school supplies to students in DeSoto ISD.
Beginning Wednesday, July 13 through Wednesday, July 27, Kroger customers will have the opportunity to purchase an “$8.99 virtual school supply kit” or donate $1, $3 or $5 cash at the register to assist in this drive. Customers shopping through online delivery or pickup can also donate online. The goal for the 2022 campaign is $750,000, topping the 2021 total raised of $714,700.
Once the campaign has concluded, the purchased school supply kits, which will include scissors, glue, pencils and other essential items, will be distributed to DeSoto ISD and other districts to assist families needing school supplies.
“We understand how important it is for students to have access to the proper resources and tools needed to help enrich their lives and make their educational journey a success,” stated Tanya Quiambao, Associate Communications Manager for Kroger Corporate Affairs, Dallas Division. “Through this campaign, we hope to help support students in this area of need.”
Since the Backpack Boosters program launched, the Kroger Dallas Division has expanded the program to reach more school districts with a high volume of students in need.
The 2022 partners for the Backpack Boosters program include: iHeartRadio, KDFW FOX 4, KDFI My 27, Powerade, BodyArmor; AHA Sparkling Water™, SmartWater and VitaminWater® .
