Fall 2021 Experience Survey

DeSoto ISD is committed to improving the learning outcomes for students and DeSoto ISD invites its stakeholders –  students and their families, employees, and community members –  to participate in the fall administration of its Experience Surveys this December.

The mission of DeSoto ISD is to create an environment in which its students can learn and grow at their highest potential and cultivate a culture of continuous learning and growth. The completion of the survey from all stakeholder groups along with community engagement opportunities provides feedback that allows the district to more accurately guide its resources to fulfill its vision to graduate students who are curious, courageous learners equipped to succeed in post-secondary education and careers.

“It is important that all members of each stakeholder group complete the surveys during each administration to enable us to celebrate progress, continue to understand the mindsets, behaviors, and perceptions of the school community, and further enhance the learning experiences and environment,” said Bridget Nevels, director of student services.

DeSoto ISD will survey students in grades 3-12, teachers, campus and district administrators, and all non-instructional staff twice per year, in the fall and spring semesters.

The community and family input will be collected holistically and will center around the topics of engagement, barriers, and community priorities among other topics. The data collected from students and staff will be viewed holistically and categorically.

This administration of surveys will center around topics of social-emotional well-being and academic engagement; school climate, culture, and environment including staff-student relationships and professional development.

Nevels also shared the importance of the survey results to guide the district's educational practices and programming.

“The results are essential because the data helps to inform our district and campus culture goals and metrics and helps us to maintain safe, relevant, and effective school learning communities,” she said.

All of the questions have been reviewed by district staff and are appropriate for school-aged students. A copy of the student survey will be made available via your child’s campus for parents to review if desired.

All surveys must be completed within the survey window of December 1 - 15.
