DeSoto ISD will observe national Red Ribbon Week at its campuses from October 24-30. Red Ribbon Week is a week of immersion around drug awareness and prevention of the request for students to remain drug-free.

During this week our campuses will host several events and activities for students during the school day.

The DeSoto ISD Student Support Services Department will host a district-wide parent engagement for all families at the DeSoto High School Academy Cafeteria on October 28 at 6 P.M. located at 600 Eagle Drive.

The goal of this parent and family engagement event is to share information about drug awareness, drug paraphernalia, drug abuse and offer access to resources and support services.
All parents are encouraged to attend and learn from education, law enforcement, and medical professionals from the following entities:

  • DeSoto ISD School Resource Officers
  • DeSoto Police Department
  • Charlton Methodist Medical Center

The event is free and dinner will be served following the presentation. Parents can use the QR Code on the event flyer to register for this event or click here: https://tinyurl.com/rr4nknj

The observance of National Red Ribbon Week of drug prevention and drug awareness is a campaign of the National Family Partnership. Their mission is to lead and support our nation’s families and communities in nurturing the full potential of healthy, drug-free youth. In 1988, NFP sponsored the first National Red Ribbon Celebration. Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Since that time, the campaign has reached millions of U.S. children and families. The National Family Partnership (NFP) and its network of individuals and organizations continue to deliver his message of hope to millions of people every year, through the National Red Ribbon Campaign™.
