Desoto independent school district

DeSoto Independent School District has released the approved calendar for the 2018-2019 School year. The DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees approved the calendar at the Feb. 26 Regular Board Meeting.

The 2018–2019 school year will start for students on Aug. 20, include a full week off for Thanksgiving, and end for students on May 31.

The calendar incorporates feedback received from employees, parents, students and community members.

Important dates for the DeSoto ISD calendar include:

• 173 student instructional days starting Aug. 20
• The fall semester starts Aug. 20 and ends Dec. 21
• The spring semester begins Jan. 7 and ends May 31
• State Fair Day is Oct. 1
• One week off for Thanksgiving Break, Nov. 19–23
• For Winter Break students are out Dec. 24–Jan. 7 and return to classes Jan. 8; staff are out Dec. 24–Jan. 4 and return to work Jan. 7.
• Spring break has been set to take place March 11–15
• Staff/student holidays on Sept. 3, Oct. 1, Oct. 19, Jan. 21, Feb. 18, Apr. 19 and May 27
