Student Teaching Requests

We know that professional growth and development is critical to the needs of not only our students but adults in our system.  As an educational institution, it is important to provide opportunities for future teachers and leaders to enjoy and grow in their learning process.

Steps for Student-Teacher Placements

  1. Complete the Student Teacher Placement Form Note: All attachments will need to be saved as one pdf)
    • Attach the written placement request from the college, university or teacher preparation
    • Attach the completed Criminal History Authorization form
    • Attach a copy of you Identification Card (Driver's license or state ID) 
  2. Approved placements will be sent to the college, university or teacher preparation program.
  3. Approved student teachers must report to DeSoto ISD Human Resources to sign a Pre-Employment Affidavit, have it notarized and receive an ID Badge.  Note: Affidavits are only accepted Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. through noon.

Observation Requests

Individuals are eligible to complete classroom observations in DeSoto ISD, if they are:

  • Currently enrolled in a teacher degree program at a four-year college or university
  • Currently enrolled in a Junior College education course
  • Currently seeking certification through an Alternative Certification Program.

Eligible candidates will need to complete the steps below to get started:

1. Print and complete the Criminal History Form.
       
2. Complete the 
Classroom Observation Request Form. (Attach all documentation to the online form: Copy of Identification, Criminal History Authorization Form, Letter of acceptance in Alternative Certification or course syllabus describing required observation hours for the class.) Submit all THREE required documents in one pdf via attachment to the observation request form.
