DeSoto Independent School District offers free and tuition-based full-day pre-kindergarten for four-year-olds and kindergarten aimed at providing students the sound academic foundation needed for a successful K-12 experience.
Register early childhood students during one of the three events listed below:
- 7a- 7p | Mon., Apr. 2 and Tues., Apr. 3, 2018 | DeSoto Civic Center
- 8a-Noon | Sat., Apr. 14, 2018 | Amber Terrace Discovery and Design Early Childhood Center
DeSoto ISD early childhood programs offer students and families opportunities for
- General Education/ESL
- Bilingual
- Tuition-Based General Education
- After School Care Program (tuition-based)
Students qualifying for tuition-free prekindergarten must be four years of age by September 1, 2018 and meet one of the following criteria:
- Unable to speak and comprehend the English language, or
- Educationally disadvantaged (which means a student is eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program), or
- Homeless, or
- Dependent of one who is currently in active military service, was injured as a result of active military service, or is the survivor of one killed in active military services, or
- Child who currently or has ever been in the foster care system, or
- Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as: a peace officer, a firefighter, or an emergency medical first responder.
Tuition-Based Prekindergarten Program for four-year-olds is available at $5,600 per year or $560 per month. DeSoto ISD offers online payment options for those interested in tuition-based early childhood opportunities.
