Child Nutrition Curbside Pick Up

Beginning Wednesday, April 1, the DeSoto ISD Child Nutrition Department will open three additional "grab and go" meal service locations to ensure greater access to daily meals for the children in the community in light of the continuing shelter-in-place ordinance in Dallas County due to Covid-19.

The newly added locations include Ruby Young, Cockrell Hill, and Woodridge elementary schools. The DeSoto ISD Mobile Eagle Kitchen food truck which previously alternated between two campuses will now be stationed solely  at Amber Terrace Discovery & Exploratory Childhood Academy for the duration of the meal service time. The addition of these sites will increase the district meal service locations to seven.

In addition to opening more meal distribution sites, the foodservice governing agencies have relaxed the rule that students must be present to receive meals.

Students are no longer required to be present with their parent or guardian to participate in the meal distribution program if the parent can provide any of the following verification methods to staff at the distribution site:

  • Official letter/email/electronic school application from school listing children enrolled
  • Individual student report cards
  • Attendance record from parent portal of the school website, printed or electronic, that includes the name(s) of the child(ren)
  • Birth certificates for children not in school
  • Student ID cards

Please note that parents may not receive meals for other children outside of their household or for whom they do not maintain legal guardianship.

The free "grab-and-go meals" are provided to anyone 18 years of age or younger, whether or not they are a DeSoto ISD student. Meals will also continue to be served in a curbside drive-thru fashion and with no need to need to exit the vehicle.

Please see the list below for sites operated by the DeSoto ISD Child Nutrition Department. After April 1, all meals will be served between 9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Monday- Friday) at the following seven locations. (Breakfast: 9:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. and Lunch: 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.)
