A champion for the cause, a mentor to many, and a man of integrity who serves his community with distinction are just a few adjectives that describe DeSoto ISD Trustee Aubrey Christopher Hooper who is bidding farewell after nine years of service on the Board.

DeSoto ISD invites the community to watch the virtual event and enjoy the journey of Trustee Hooper's life-long commitment to public service in the district, county, and state.

During his time in DeSoto ISD, Trustee Hooper has impacted many students, individuals and supported the launch of key programs that focused on mentorship, college and career readiness, professionalism, and academic growth.

One such annual program is the DeSoto Male Leadership Symposium, which he founded, that connects young men to real-world leaders, celebrities and professionals who teach them life lessons to aid their progress as productive citizens.

Numerous DeSoto ISD students and young adults, mentored by Trustee Hooper, have progressed in their lives as college graduates, career professionals along with school district administrators.  

His community impact has extended beyond his work in DeSoto ISD, Trustee Hooper has made inroads and many impacts in the surrounding cities, Dallas County, the State of Texas, and even on the National level working with Senator Royce West, Commissioner John Wiley Price, Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson and others.

He has over 20 years of service with community organizations and non-profit groups including, the local, state, and national levels of the NAACP. He most recently serving as the Dallas president, the Second Vice President of the Texas State Conference NAACP Branches, and the Assistant Secretary of the NAACP National Board of Directors. He is also the Vice-Chairman of the NAACP National Education Committee and serves as a member of the NAACP Finance, Advocacy and Policy, Image Awards, and Executive committees.

Trustee Hooper's last DeSoto ISD Board meeting is Monday, September 28, 2020, at 6:30 P.M.
