DeSoto West Middle School Launches Culture-Building Initiatives with West C.O.I.N.S Showcase
DeSoto Independent School District’s West Middle School is
proud to announce innovative programs and initiatives designed to reshape
campus culture and enrich the student experience. Central to these efforts is
the West C.O.I.N.S Showcase (Celebrating Creativity, Opportunity,
Innovation, Navigation & Service), taking place Thursday, December
11, 2025, from 6–7:30 PM at 800 N. Westmoreland Rd.
The programs being introduced at West Middle School focus on
culture-building, teamwork, collaboration, engagement, inclusion, and
belonging, creating an inviting school environment where students have
opportunities to learn and thrive beyond the classroom. While these efforts are
centered on campus life and student experiences, they reflect a broader,
districtwide commitment to improving customer service and stakeholder
engagement, always with scholars at the center.
Families and community members attending the West C.O.I.N.S
Showcase will experience the creativity and talents of West Middle School
students through a variety of club presentations, including:
- Podcast
Pioneer Club: Live student podcasts
- Book
Explorer Club: Creative book displays and reviews
- Science
Club (Project Lead The Way): Interactive chemistry labs
- Culinary
Club: Student-prepared samples and recipe demos
- Cosmetology
Club: Skills demos and mini beauty services
- Art
& Innovation Booths
- College
& Career Readiness Presentations
The showcase will also feature raffles, giveaways, and
light refreshments, providing a family-friendly environment to connect with
teachers, club sponsors, and community partners while celebrating the
achievements of West Middle School scholars.
“West C.O.I.N.S is more than a showcase—it’s a reflection of
our commitment to creating a school culture where every student feels valued,
engaged, and inspired,” said Dr. Brittany Strickland, Principal of DeSoto
West Middle School. “These programs give our students opportunities to
explore their interests, collaborate with peers, and build skills that extend
beyond the classroom walls.”
The district’s efforts at West Middle School mirror a larger
initiative across DeSoto ISD to enhance experiences for all stakeholders
while keeping students’ academic, social, and emotional success at the
forefront.
