The DeSoto Independent School District proudly announces that School Board Trustee Chasiti McKissic has successfully completed all requirements for the Leadership TASB (LTASB) Class of 2026 cohort, a state-wide, prestigious program offered by the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).

As a member of this distinguished cohort, Trustee McKissic completed a rigorous, yearlong leadership development program designed to deepen trustees’ knowledge of governance, advocacy, and effective school leadership. Upon completion, she earned the esteemed designation of Master Trustee, recognizing her commitment to excellence in board service and student success.

The Leadership TASB program selects experienced trustees from across Texas who demonstrate a strong dedication to public education and leadership within their communities. Participants engage in collaborative learning experiences across the state, culminating in the presentation of capstone projects and a formal graduation ceremony.

DeSoto ISD Board President Karen E. Lacy commended Trustee McKissic for this significant achievement.

Her commitment to growth, governance excellence, and service reflects the very best of DeSoto ISD leadership. This accomplishment not only highlights her dedication but also strengthens our entire board as we continue to serve our students and community.”

DeSoto ISD Interim Superintendent Brent Mitchell also shared his appreciation for Trustee McKissic’s accomplishment and the value placed on continuous growth among board members.

Her participation in the Leadership TASB program demonstrates a clear dedication to becoming the best possible leader for DeSoto ISD. That level of commitment directly benefits our students, staff, and community.”

DeSoto ISD Trustee Chasiti McKissic who has served on the board reflected on her experience:

 “Participating in the Leadership TASB program has been an incredibly meaningful journey that expanded my perspective on governance, leadership, and student advocacy. The opportunity to collaborate with trustees from across the state and learn from diverse districts has strengthened my commitment to serving DeSoto ISD with excellence, intentionality, and a deeper understanding of the impact our work has on every student we serve.”

Trustee McKissic was among 32 school board members statewide recognized for completing the program, which has helped shape more than 1,000 educational leaders since its inception.
