Introducing PK-8 Education Go Get It Week

Sep. 20-24

The goal of the DeSoto ISD Education "Go Get It" Week is to provide both information and encouragement to our students in grades PK-8 regarding pursuing post-secondary education opportunities, including college, military and vocational training.

During this week, teachers and students will take part on various activities each day to support college, career, and military readiness including student virtual tours to learn more about program and career choices, admission requirements, and tuition costs from their favorite colleges and universities.

Celebrating National GEAR UP Week

Sep. 20-24

National GEAR UP Week is an opportunity to get our 9-12 grade students thinking about their plan after high school. This week is full of fun and exciting activities while promoting a college-going culture in our school and community.

DeSoto ISD's National GEAR Up Week is being facilitated by Next Generation GEAR UP. Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a federally funded, competitive grant program designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education. DeSoto ISD Next Generation GEAR UP and LETS GEAR UP proudly provide tutoring, mentoring, rigorous academic preparation, financial education and college scholarships to improve access to higher education for low income, minority, and disadvantaged first-generation students and their families in our community
