DeSoto ISD proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of the Frank D. Moates Elementary Dance Team, who earned 3rd place at the Dance Showcase USA Regional Competition held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Kennedale, Texas.
FME Led by Counselor and Coach LaTura Schexnayder, the team—composed of talented scholars in grades 3 through 5—stood out among over 1,000 participants in this high-energy, regional event. In an especially notable accomplishment, Frank Moates was the only elementary school-based dance team to participate in the competition, going toe-to-toe with community and studio dance groups across the region.
"This achievement speaks volumes about the dedication, creativity, and discipline of our scholars," said Coach Schexnayder. "To place 3rd in a competition of this size and caliber is a huge honor, especially as a school team among private programs."
This exciting win showcases the vibrancy of the arts in DeSoto ISD and the district's commitment to nurturing the whole child through both academic and extracurricular excellence. The performance also reflects the hard work and school pride of the young dancers who trained diligently to deliver a standout routine on a regional stage.
DeSoto ISD congratulates these scholars for their incredible teamwork, determination, and for shining bright as ambassadors of Moates Elementary and the district.
