The DeSoto High School Lady Eagles are officially back on the court as the 2026 volleyball season gets underway, bringing a new season, new opportunities and a renewed focus on competing with purpose. Under head coach Rene McKibbin, the Lady Eagles enter the season focused on building consistency, strengthening their chemistry and establishing an identity centered on hard work, discipline and teamwork.
McKibbin begins her first season leading the DeSoto volleyball program after joining the district this summer. As practices transition into competition, the Lady Eagles are working to turn their preparation into results while continuing to develop throughout the season. For DeSoto, the early portion of the schedule will provide opportunities for players to learn how to compete together, respond to adversity and establish the habits necessary to be successful as the season progresses.
“There is a lot of excitement around this team, but we understand that everything we want to accomplish has to be earned,” McKibbin said. “Every practice and every match is an opportunity for us to get better. I want our players to compete with confidence, trust each other and play with pride every time they put on a DeSoto uniform. If we continue to work, stay disciplined and grow together, we have an opportunity to make this a special season.”
That growth will be important as the Lady Eagles navigate a season that will test the team both physically and mentally. Each match provides another opportunity to improve communication, execute under pressure and build momentum as DeSoto works toward its goals. The season also represents an opportunity for players to step into new roles and develop as leaders. From practices and workouts to match nights, McKibbin is working to establish expectations that extend beyond the scoreboard.
That approach reflects DeSoto ISD’s commitment to developing well-rounded student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics, leadership and character. As the season gets underway, the Lady Eagles will need the support of Eagle Nation.
