KJTMA will accept rising K–7th grade applicants for its aerospace and aviation pathways, which emphasize project-based learning, engineering fundamentals, robotics, mathematics, and emerging technologies.
“At KJTMA, our scholars are engineers, aviators, and innovators in the making,” said Principal Yolanda Hanspard. “This program is the right fit for students who are curious, hands-on problem solvers. We honor Katherine Johnson’s legacy by encouraging students to be bold, courageous, and limitless in their pursuit of STEM.”
Program benefits include:
- STEM instruction aligned to real-world aerospace and aviation concepts
- Robotics, coding, and engineering challenges
- A learning environment grounded in curiosity, collaboration, and innovation
- Project-based learning that mirrors real industry problem solving
“KJTMA empowers students by giving them early exposure to STEM fields that shape our future,” said Advanced Academics Director Robin Johnson-Ford. “It’s a vibrant space where scholars stretch their minds and discover their passions.”
“Access to STEM pathways at an early age builds lifelong academic advantages,” said Dr. Anita Perry, Executive Director of CCMR and Counseling Services. “Students in this program gain confidence, skills, and a strong foundation for high-demand careers.”
Aligned with DeSoto ISD’s Right Fit campaign, KJTMA provides a setting where students explore their potential through technology-rich, future-focused opportunities.
