When learning needs a champion, Kemesha Jackson is ready.
Jackson, an instructional specialist at Cockrell Hill Elementary, brings 24 years of experience in education, including six years with DeSoto ISD, to her work supporting both students and teachers. Her approach is grounded in one guiding belief: purpose.
“Purpose drives my work because when I go to work, it’s not work,” Jackson said. “I come ready to serve the students and staff of Cockrell Hill by leading, redirecting and offering supportive practices so we can all be successful.”
Jackson holds an EC–4 degree from Paul Quinn College, a master’s degree in educational administration from Prairie View A&M University with principal certification, and a special education EC–12 certification.
Her “why” is rooted in teaching and learning.
“I’m about the business of educating and motivating,” she said. “I love seeing how my expertise helps others — whether that’s helping teachers grow or moving students a step or two closer to where they need to be.”
In her role, Jackson supports the whole child and the whole adult by listening first, observing closely and responding intentionally. She works alongside teachers, chunks instructional needs, follows up on progress and adjusts plans to ensure continued success.
Jackson believes her work helps shape the future of DeSoto ISD through collaboration and shared ownership.
“We win together,” she said. “When everyone has a plan and the end in mind, we can hold the line.”
She takes pride in fostering a love for learning and helping students and educators embrace growth and change. To stay grounded through challenges, Jackson reflects on her own journey and the mentors who supported her along the way.
“I know growth doesn’t happen overnight,” she said. “It’s a journey, and I’m invested in the success that’s ahead for our campus.”
Inspired by young learners eager to share what they’ve learned — and by teachers who value her honest feedback — Jackson remains focused on excellence by continuing to learn, building genuine relationships and staying true to her purpose.
A former Ruby Young Educator, Jackson also built a small on-campus library to share her love of reading with students.
What excites her most about DeSoto ISD’s future?
