Dr. Usamah Rodgers, superintendent of DeSoto Independent School District, was honored at Superintendent Recognition Day, hosted by Legacy Toyota of Dallas on Jan. 16, 2025. Held at the dealership on Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, the event drew a crowd of educators, community members and local officials, reflecting the high regard in which Rodgers is held.
The atmosphere was filled with admiration as attendees gathered to celebrate Rodgers’ exceptional leadership and dedication to the district highlighting her commitment to fostering a positive educational environment and her unwavering support for students and staff.
“I think it’s a wonderful opportunity to say thank you,” DeSoto High School Principal Jasen Campbell said. “Dr. Rodgers has come into the district and done a wonderful job. She leads by example, she’s transparent, and she deserves this recognition. Congratulations to Dr. Rodgers!”

The event featured a catered spread adding a festive touch to the proceedings. Legacy Toyota of Dallas was commended for organizing the event, underscoring the strong community ties and support for educational leadership in DeSoto.
Rodgers, named the lone finalist for the superintendent position in April 2022, has been instrumental in driving initiatives such as the Triple A Experience, aimed at improving student outcomes and strengthening community engagement within DeSoto ISD, through deeper student engagement and wider choice options in academics, arts and athletics.
“Dr. Rodgers brings her passion, her commitment to education, and she shows up every day ready to do the work for these students,” said DeSoto ISD alumnae Dr. Tiffany Clark, who went on to teach in the district before service as trustee and who was, recently named to the Texas State Board of Education for District 13.
“Thank you for continuing to show up. Thank you for your perseverance and determination. You deserve all the praise and recognition you are receiving for your dedication to the students of DeSoto ISD,” Clark added.
In a recent development, the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a one-year contract extension for Rodgers, further affirming their confidence in her leadership and forward movement in the district.

“Dr. Rodgers, thank you so much for everything you’ve done for our district. Thank you for choosing DeSoto ISD,” Board President Chasiti McKissic said at the Jan 21 board meeting.
The recognition event at Legacy Toyota of Dallas not only celebrated Rodgers’ achievements but also highlighted the collaborative spirit of the DeSoto community in supporting and uplifting its educational leaders.
