DeSoto ISD Trustees Chasiti McKissic and Cynthia Watson-Banks Sworn in for New Terms

DeSoto Independent School District
reaffirmed its leadership continuity on May 15, as returning trustees Chasiti
McKissic (Place 2) and Cynthia Watson-Banks (Place 1) were officially sworn in
during a ceremony presided over by Judge Mike Jones.
Both trustees ran unopposed in the
recent election, earning the opportunity to continue serving on the DeSoto ISD
Board of Trustees. Their reappointments reflect strong community support for
their ongoing commitment to student success, responsible governance, and
district improvement.
Superintendent Dr. Usamah Rodgers
and fellow board members joined district staff, families, and community members
in recognizing McKissic and Watson-Banks for their service and leadership. The
ceremony was a moment to honor their dedication and the stability they bring to
the board.
“We’re grateful for the continued
service of Trustees McKissic and Watson-Banks,” said Dr. Rodgers. “Their
leadership and experience are critical to advancing the mission and vision of
DeSoto ISD.”
As returning members, McKissic and
Watson-Banks will continue contributing to strategic planning, academic
oversight, and policymaking aimed at fostering equity and excellence throughout
the district.
