DeSoto Independent School District proudly announces the upcoming DeSoto High School Spring Choir Concert, taking place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at the Fred Nickels Auditorium, located at 600 Eagle Drive, DeSoto, TX.

This special event highlights the Arts strand of the district’s Triple A Experience—an initiative that nurtures well-rounded student development through Academics, Arts, and Athletics. The Spring Choir Concert is a celebration of student creativity, discipline, and artistic excellence within the DeSoto ISD Choral Program.

Under the new direction of Ms. Nae Calihan, the DeSoto High School Choir is entering a bold new era. The program builds on the nationally recognized legacy of retired director and Grammy Educator of the Year, Pam Dawson, and continues to rise as a beacon of musical excellence.

“This concert is a labor of love for our students and a showcase of their growth, hard work, and passion for music,” said Nae Calihan, DeSoto High School Choir Director. “We’re excited to share a vibrant evening of choral artistry that honors the legacy we’ve inherited and celebrates the bold direction we’re heading in.”

The evening’s performance will feature selections from the A Cappella Choir, Eagle Men, Freshmen Ladies, Guest Soloists, and Musical Theatre performers. Each group will present a unique blend of vocal styles, harmonies, and choreography designed to engage and inspire audiences of all ages.

“The Arts are a critical component of student development in DeSoto ISD,” said Dr. Gene Morrow, Executive Director of Student Support Services. “Events like the Spring Choir Concert allow our scholars to express themselves, connect with the community, and develop confidence and leadership through creative performance.”

“Our commitment to holistic education is what drives the Triple A Experience,” said Chief Academic Officer Stephanie McCloud. “The Spring Choir Concert is more than a performance—it’s a testament to how academic excellence, artistic expression, and personal growth go hand-in-hand in our district.”

Tickets are $5 per person and will be available at the door on the night of the event.

DeSoto ISD invites students, families, staff, and community members to attend this inspiring evening and support the outstanding young artists who represent the future of the performing arts in DeSoto.
