DeSoto Independent School District, in partnership with Community Missionary Baptist Church (CMBC) and regional education partners, invites high school students and families to attend the CMBC College Fair 2026 on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Community Missionary Baptist Church, Cedar Hill Campus, located at 820 E. Wintergreen Road, Cedar Hill, Texas 75104.

The annual college fair is designed for students in grades 9–12 and their parents to explore postsecondary opportunities and strengthen college and career readiness. More than 50 colleges and universities from across the country will be represented, offering students the opportunity to connect directly with admissions representatives, learn about academic programs, and gain insight into campus life.

In addition to the college and university browsing area, attendees will have access to informative workshops for both students and parents, covering essential topics such as:

  • College Admissions

  • Career Exploration

  • Financial Aid and Scholarships

“The CMBC College Fair provides our students and families with critical access to information and connections that can shape their future,” said Stephanie McCloud, DeSoto ISD Chief Academic Officer. “We are proud to partner with Community Missionary Baptist Church and neighboring districts to ensure our scholars are informed, empowered, and prepared to pursue postsecondary success.”

The event is led by Community Missionary Baptist Church with educational partners including DeSoto ISD, Cedar Hill ISD, Duncanville ISD, Lancaster ISD, and the Infinite Scholars Program. Together, these organizations share a commitment to expanding college and career opportunities for students throughout the region.

“This fair is an important opportunity for families to engage in meaningful conversations about college and career planning early in the high school journey,” said Dr. Anita Perry, DeSoto ISD Executive Director of Counseling and Academics. “By bringing colleges, resources, and expert guidance into one space, we help reduce barriers and increase access to postsecondary pathways.”

District leaders emphasized the value of early exposure to advanced academic planning and postsecondary options.

“College fairs like this one allow students to envision themselves beyond high school and begin making informed decisions about advanced academics, career pathways, and higher education,” said Dr. Robin Johnson-Ford, DeSoto ISD Director of Advanced Academics. “These experiences are essential in helping students align their interests, strengths, and goals.”

The CMBC College Fair 2026 is free and open to all high school students and families. Spanish-language materials and resources will be available to support broader community access.
