At just six years old, Sarabi
Green, a standout scholar at Woodridge Fine Arts and Gifted Academy, is
making waves as a young entrepreneur with her creative business venture, Rhythm and Rinds
—a brand blending her love of culinary creativity with her
passion for music and culture. This fresh-squeezed lemonade stand, “handmade
with love,” features Sarabi’s signature Strawberry Poundcake Lemonade,
and has quickly become a hit in the community.
“Rhythm and Rinds” began as a small
idea in her family kitchen, experimenting with fun and flavorful snacks while
pairing the process with upbeat music. What started as a hobby quickly evolved
into a budding business, fueled by her innovation, work ethic, and the support
of her school community.
But there’s more than just flavor
behind the name. Anchored in rhythm, Sarabi often pairs her lemonade experience
with upbeat music, weaving together sensory enjoyment and creative branding
that’s as memorable as the product itself.
Demitree Tatum, principal of Woodridge
Fine Arts and Gifted Academy, sees Sarabi’s inventive spirit as clear evidence
of the impact of our district’s balanced approach to education:
“Economic mobility, entrepreneurship,
and financial literacy start early for today’s competitive scholars,” Tatum
said. “At Woodridge, we nurture creativity alongside academic rigor, and Sarabi
is proof that when students have room to explore their passions, incredible
things happen.”
DeSoto ISD’s district-wide focus on
the Triple- A Experience—Academics, Arts, and Athletics—provides
students with the foundation they need to discover interests, build confidence,
and step into success whether in the classroom, on stage, or in business. The
district’s holistic and well-rounded educational approach has been key in
creating environments where student interests are developed into real-world
opportunities. Whether in the classroom mastering core skills, on stage
showcasing artistic talent, or in extracurricular activities learning
leadership, DeSoto ISD is intentional about preparing students for success
beyond graduation.
Superintendent of Schools Dr.
Usamah Rodgers praised Sarabi’s drive as a model for others.
“We are building the foundations for
aspiration and creativity in every DeSoto ISD student,” Rodgers said. “When our
scholars see themselves as capable innovators and leaders, they’re not just
preparing for the future—they’re shaping it. Sarabi and her business are
shining examples of how early entrepreneurship, creativity, and financial
literacy are cultivated right here in our schools.”
With each batch of her signature rinds
and the unique musical experience she pairs with them, Sarabi is learning
valuable lessons in marketing, customer service, and financial
management—skills that will serve her well for years to come. And as she
continues to balance academics with entrepreneurship, she hopes her story will
inspire other young people to chase their dreams with confidence.
Sarabi’s journey goes beyond quenching
thirst—it’s teaching real-world lessons in marketing, customer engagement, and
fiscal responsibility. Whether popping up at local events or crafting new
lemonade flavors, she’s honing skills that will serve her for a lifetime.
