DeSoto ISD Honors its School Board Trustees During National School Board Appreciation Month

In alignment with School Board Recognition Month and along with other districts in the state and nation, DeSoto Independent School District recognizes the DeSoto ISD School Board trustees. The district is grateful for their for their dedication and commitment to the district, its students and families.
This year’s School Board Recognition Month theme--Leaders for Tomorrow’s Texas, highlights the necessity of schools leaders to meet the educational needs of all children and to empower them to become competent, productive contributors to a democratic society and an ever-changing world. School board members are the largest group of locally elected officials in the state and are tasked with working together “to mold an educational system that meets the needs of both todays and tomorrows children”.
These volunteers serve for the betterment of their communities. Their role includes the overall governance and proper stewardship of district finances, the proper access and allocation of district resources, the development of the district’s educational vision, and to ensure the sound structure of the school system. This group is also responsible for communicating the needs of the school district to the public and the public’s expectations to the district.
“Our board members are essential to the success of this district. Their dedication, vision, and commitment and astuteness shape the future of our schools and students,” said DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers. “Our trustees are tenacious advocates for the for the absolute best academic experience for district scholars and we want to take time this month to reiterate our appreciation for their continued service to the DeSoto ISD school community.”
DeSoto ISD will host its annual public celebration of its school board trustees during its monthly school board meetings near the close of the month in addition to other internal moments of appreciation.
