As the school year commenced, so did an abundance of classroom teacher resources following a donation by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of North Texas which provided much-needed classroom supplies for teachers and scholars in DeSoto ISD.

DeSoto ISD teachers and staff from the Ruby Young Talented and Gifted Academy, The Meadows Elementary, and Woodridge Elementary campuses were the primary beneficiaries of this donation which included the following items:

  • Table-top laminators
  • Rolls of Bulletin Board Papers
  • Dictionaries and classroom sets of books
  • Bottles of Glue
  • Bulk bags of Pens, Pencils, Erasers Markers, and Crayons
  • Packs of Manilla Drawing and Construction paper
  • Folders and Composition Books
  • Binders and Backpacks
  • Crafting kits and items
  • Parchment paper
  • Hand Sanitizer
  • First aid items

As a first-year DeSoto ISD principal, Shauntai Hicks of The Meadows Elementary was appreciative of the support shown to her staff.

“It is a great honor to see the commitment to our community. It is not only inspiring but will also significantly enhance the morale and welfare of our staff members. It is because of local donors that we can create a nurturing environment where our educators can thrive, and our students can achieve their fullest potential,” said Principal Hicks.

DeSoto ISD appreciates the support of its school community to ensure its students continue to soar and fulfill the district’s mission for all students to learn and grow to their highest levels.

“Donations are a helpful resource to bridge gaps for teachers, campuses, and the district-at-large. This particular organization is a consistent partner that works to better the school environment for our students and teachers and, as a result of the generosity of St. Vincent de Paul, DeSoto ISD is extremely grateful to be able to service a number of our campuses with some part of this donation,” said DeSoto ISD Chief Communications Officer Tiffanie Blackmon-Jones.
