DeSoto ISD Launches “The Soar Games” — A New Tradition of Competition, Teamwork, and School Pride

DeSoto Independent School District is proud to announce the
launch of a brand-new athletic initiative — The Soar Games — designed to
unite 3rd–6th grade boys and girls from across all DeSoto ISD elementary
campuses for friendly, district-wide sports competitions.
The program will begin with a pilot season featuring 5th
and 6th grade students competing in Volleyball, Basketball, Track,
Soccer, and Flag Football. The inaugural event — a Basketball Tournament
— is set for November 8, 2025, marking the first in a series of engaging
athletic tournaments to be held throughout the school year.
“The Soar Games are more than just athletic events; they’re
an opportunity for our students to build teamwork, sportsmanship, and school
pride,” said Montonya Jackson Billups, DeSoto ISD Athletic Coordinator
and Adapted Physical Education Instructor. “We want our students to compete,
connect, and celebrate what it means to be part of the DeSoto Eagle family.”
Participants selected for the Soar Games will represent
their respective elementary schools in competition, giving students an exciting
platform to showcase their skills and foster meaningful friendships across
campuses.
To help offset the costs associated with game officials and
player uniforms (tournament t-shirts), there will be a $15 participation fee
per student.
Through The Soar Games, DeSoto ISD aims to provide students
with enriching extracurricular experiences that promote leadership, confidence,
and community connection — both on and off the field.

details, families may contact their campus PE teacher or athletic coordinator.
