DeSoto Independent School District invites all families and
students to STEM Family Carnival Night, an evening filled with hands-on
science and math activities, student performances, and opportunities to explore
innovative learning across the district. The event will take place on Thursday,
December 4, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM in the DeSoto High School Academy
Cafeteria located at 600 Eagle Drive in DeSoto.
“STEM Family Carnival Night is about more than fun;
it’s an opportunity for families to experience the excitement of STEM learning
alongside their children,” said Raisha Allen, DeSoto ISD STEM Coordinator.
“We want students to see themselves as confident mathematicians, scientists,
engineers, and creators, and for families to feel connected to their child’s
learning journey.”
The STEM Family Carnival Night promises an exciting lineup
of activities for families, including:
- Interactive
science and math experiments that bring classroom learning to life
- District
Math Bee competitions, where students showcase their problem-solving
skills
- GT
Showcase, highlighting innovative student projects and creative
solutions
- Live
student performances, celebrating the talents and achievements of
DeSoto ISD scholars
Chief Academic Officer Stephanie McCloud added, “Engaging
families in STEM not only strengthens the home–school connection but also
inspires curiosity and creativity. This event celebrates our students’
accomplishments and demonstrates the incredible possibilities that hands-on
learning can unlock.”
The goal of the event is to provide students and families
with meaningful opportunities to explore STEM together, increase awareness of
district programs, and celebrate the creativity and accomplishments of DeSoto
ISD students.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers
emphasized, “At DeSoto ISD, we are committed to cultivating innovative thinkers
and problem-solvers. STEM Family Night is a fantastic example of how our
district brings students, families, and the community together to celebrate
learning and inspire future leaders in science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics.”
Families are encouraged to join this free,
family-friendly event to learn, explore, and celebrate the power of STEM
education.
