DeSoto Independent School District is encouraging families to apply to its specialized Choice Programs for the 2025–2026 school year, now with the application window extended through Thursday, February 13, 2026. This extension provides families extra time to explore programs designed to meet the unique academic, artistic, and career goals of every scholar.

“The right fit truly makes all the difference,” said Superintendent Dr. Usamah Rodgers“By extending the application window, we are giving families more time to explore our Choice Programs and discover the opportunities that best align with their student’s talents, interests, and aspirations.”

DeSoto ISD offers five dynamic Choice Programs spanning K–12:

  • Woodridge Fine Arts and Gifted Academy (K–5): A curriculum blending visual and performing arts with advanced coursework in language arts, history, and culture.

  • West Middle School Male Leadership Academy (6–8): A school-within-a-school model focused on brotherhood, belonging, leadership, and academic rigor.

  • Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy (K–8): STEM-focused program emphasizing project-based learning in aerospace, aviation, and technology.

  • Collegiate Academy / Early College High School (ECHS) (9–12): Provides rising high school scholars the opportunity to earn college credits and associate degrees in partnership with Dallas College Cedar Valley, preparing students for higher education and career success.

  • P-TECH Program (9–12): Career-focused pathways in information technology and business, offering college credits, industry certifications, and skills training aligned to workforce demands, creating avenues for economic mobility and early career advancement.

“DeSoto High School’s Early College and P-TECH programs open doors for students to earn college credit, industry certifications, and hands-on experience in high-demand fields,” said Chief Academic Officer Stephanie McCloud“These programs are designed to accelerate student learning, prepare scholars for college and careers, and provide meaningful pathways to economic mobility.”
