DeSoto ISD Partners with Whitsons Culinary Group to Launch Free Summer Meals Program
To ensure that children continue receiving delicious and nutritious meals throughout the summer break, DeSoto Independent School District is launching its annual free Summer Meals Program. DeSoto ISD is deeply committed to the health and well-being of every child in the community, providing healthy food choices to ensure students return to school in the fall healthy, energized, and ready to learn.
In partnership with the district’s child nutrition provider, Whitsons Culinary Group, this vital family-focused initiative is made possible through the federally funded Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and the Seamless Summer Option (SSO). These programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered at the state level by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA).
Meals Service Details & Schedule
Families in the community, participating families in the community, do not have to apply, register, or provide identification to receive meals. The free summer meals program
runs from June 1 through July 30. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be available to all children up to age 18, as well as adults with special needs up to age 21.
· Service Days: Mondays through Thursdays.
· Holiday Closure: Please note a brief closure from June 29 through July 2 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
