DeSoto Independent School District is proud to support the 8th Annual Von Miller Day, a special community event hosted by NFL star, Super Bowl MVP, and proud DeSoto High School graduate Von Miller, in celebration of the city and schools that shaped his journey.

This year’s celebration will take place on Saturday, April 26, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Zieger Park, and promises a FREE, family-friendly day of fun, service, and togetherness.

Von Miller Day invites students, families, alumni, and community members to enjoy:

  • Games, bounce houses, a Game Truck, and more

  • Giveaways and special surprises

  • Free food from favorite local vendors

  • Community resources for families and youth

Designed for students and children of all ages, the event provides an opportunity to connect with neighbors, celebrate shared roots, and enjoy a festive afternoon in the heart of the DeSoto community.

As part of the celebration, Miller will return to his hometown and alma mater to host a series of events focused on giving back. Central to the day’s impact is Von's Vision, the outreach initiative of Miller’s nonprofit foundation, which will provide free eye exams and prescription glasses to DeSoto ISD scholars through a mobile eye clinic on-site.

Through this partnership with licensed optometrists and the Von’s Vision Foundation, Miller remains committed to ensuring that students have the tools they need to succeed—not just in the classroom, but in life. Access to vision care can significantly influence a student’s academic performance and self-confidence.

“Von Miller’s commitment to giving back speaks volumes about his character and leadership,” said Dr. Usamah Rodgers, Superintendent of Schools. “His efforts through Von’s Vision reflect the kind of community partnership that strengthens our district and supports our scholars’ well-being. We are honored to recognize him and his impact with Von Miller Day.”

The district-wide celebration will also feature:

  • A ceremonial recognition of Von Miller Day with district and city leaders

  • A Von’s Vision mobile eye clinic for DeSoto ISD students

  • Special visits and photo opportunities with Von Miller at DeSoto High School

Miller, known for both his athletic excellence and his deep commitment to service, launched Von’s Vision in 2012 to help low-income students access eye care and eyewear, giving them the ability to see—and reach—a brighter future.

“DeSoto shaped who I am,” Miller said in a statement. “I’m proud to come back and serve the community that raised me. If I can help a kid see more clearly and do better in school, that’s more important than any sack or touchdown.”

Each year, Von Miller dedicates this event to celebrating the people who poured into him—and to pouring right back into the next generation. DeSoto ISD is honored to join in this celebration and encourages everyone to come out and take part in a day of gratitude, joy, and community spirit.
