DeSoto ISD Announces Community Engagement Series to Redesign Board Goals for Student Achievement

The DeSoto Independent School District (ISD) Board of Trustees invites the community to participate in a series of meetings to help redesign the district’s Board goals, which are aimed at guiding and accelerating student academic achievement for the next five years. As the current five-year period for the existing goals nears its conclusion, the Board is committed to gathering input from parents, students, educators, and other community members to ensure that the new goals reflect the needs and aspirations of the DeSoto ISD community.
The process to establish the current body of board goals which focus on early literacy; early numeracy; college, career and military readiness; and personalized growth were initiated through a similar effort in 2019 before taking shape in 2020 moving towards finality and implementation in 2021.
The upcoming community engagement meetings will provide an open platform for stakeholders to share their perspectives, ideas, and suggestions for future academic priorities. The district encourages all community members to attend one or more of the following meetings:
Meeting Schedule:
- Meeting 1: February 8, 2025 | 10 AM | DeSoto Library (CDC Meeting Location)
- Meeting 2: February 11, 2025 | 6 PM | Community Missionary Baptist Church - DeSoto
- Meeting 3: February 19, 2025 | 6 PM | City of Glenn Heights
- Meeting 4: February 24-28, 2025 |6 PM| Location TBD
These meetings will serve as a forum to discuss the current academic goals and explore ways to enhance the district’s focus on student success in the years to come. Community members will have the opportunity to provide direct feedback and help shape the future direction of DeSoto ISD’s academic programs and initiatives.
