DeSoto ISD PTSA to Host “Create with Kindness” Panel Promoting Positive Digital Engagement
DeSoto Independent School District, in partnership with the DeSoto High School PTSA, will host “Create with Kindness,” an interactive panel discussion designed to bring students and families together to explore the power of kindness, creativity, and responsible engagement in digital spaces.
As concerns continue to rise around digital decorum, online safety, and the lasting impact of social media behavior, it is increasingly important to equip students and families with the tools to navigate these spaces with integrity and responsibility. From viral trends that encourage harmful behavior to the permanence of digital footprints, today’s online environment requires thoughtful engagement and informed decision-making.
Efforts like “Create with Kindness” are designed to proactively address these challenges by fostering open dialogue, building awareness, and empowering students to use their voices in positive, respectful ways. When students understand how their online presence shapes their reputation, relationships, and future opportunities, they are better prepared to engage in digital spaces safely and with purpose.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the DeSoto High School Community Room and is open to DeSoto ISD students and their families.
Part of a national PTA initiative, “Create with Kindness” aims to foster open dialogue between students, parents, and caregivers about their online experiences while equipping families with practical tools to promote online safety and positive digital citizenship. The event will feature a panel of student creators and local leaders who will share insights on how to use social media platforms to spread positivity and make a meaningful impact.
Participants will also engage in a collaborative experience, creating TikTok content together in a guided, community-centered environment that models responsible and uplifting digital interaction.
“This event creates space for honest conversations between students and families about what’s really happening online,” said Kendal Harden, DeSoto ISD Parent and Family Engagement Specialist. “Our goal is to empower families with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate digital spaces safely while encouraging students to use their voices to uplift and inspire.”
Dr. Gene Morrow, Executive Director of Student Support Services, emphasized the importance of proactive engagement in today’s digital landscape. “We know that students are deeply influenced by their online experiences,” said Morrow. “By bringing families together for conversations like this, we are not only addressing safety but also helping shape a culture where kindness, accountability, and positive representation guide how our students show up both online and in their communities.”
The “Create with Kindness” panel reflects DeSoto ISD’s ongoing commitment to supporting the whole child by connecting academic success with social-emotional learning, family engagement, and real-world skill development.
