The DeSoto Independent School District is encouraging community members to participate in an upcoming virtual town hall hosted by State Board of Education Representative Dr. Tiffany Clark, focused on the current charter application process and the role of impact statements.
A proposed charter school has expressed interest in locating within the DeSoto area as part of the 2026 charter application window. In response, Dr. Clark is organizing a virtual session to help inform and empower community members to engage in the process.
The town hall will provide attendees with:

- Guidance on how to develop effective impact statements using relevant data and local context
- Insight into how community feedback influences decisions made by the Texas Education Agency and State Board of Education
- Information on additional advocacy opportunities, including participation in the upcoming State Board meeting in Austin
