DeSoto ISD Celebrates Historic Alumni Achievement: Keldria Hamilton Makes History Across Three Institutions
DeSoto Independent School District proudly celebrates the extraordinary accomplishments of alumna Keldria Hamilton, a 2026 graduate of DeSoto High School and Dallas College, whose academic excellence, leadership, and determination have earned her a place in history.
Keldria holds the unprecedented distinction of being the first student ever to be inducted into the Sigma Kappa Delta (ΣΚΔ) National English Honor Society in the history of Mountain View Campus – Dallas College (since 1970), Cedar Valley Campus – Dallas College (since 1977), and DeSoto High School – DeSoto ISD. This historic milestone was achieved while she was simultaneously enrolled as an Early College High School student at Cedar Valley College and a senior at DeSoto High School.
On November 20, 2025, Keldria officially joined Sigma Kappa Delta as a lifetime Student Member through the Omicron Eta Chapter at Mountain View Campus. She will be formally recognized during the chapter’s 3rd Induction, Pinning, and Installation Ceremony on Thursday, March 5, 2026, where she will receive her official Membership Certificate and Graduation Honor Cords.
Keldria’s academic profile reflects a record of exceptional performance and commitment, marked by a 4.9 high school GPA and a senior class rank of #18, along with membership in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Math Honor Society. As a college student, she has maintained a 3.89 GPA and earned honors in Phi Theta Kappa, Psi Beta, The National Society of Leadership and Success, and the Sigma Kappa Delta National English Honor Society. Majoring in Business Economics, Keldria will continue her academic journey at the University of North Texas in Denton, where she plans to pursue her professional aspiration of becoming an economist.
Beyond academics, Keldria is a dynamic student leader and active member of her school community. She served as Class of 2026 Treasurer, participated in the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee, and spent four years as a DeSoto High School Cheerleader and Leadership Team member. Her involvement also included Student Council and Pretty with Purpose, reflecting her passion for service, leadership, and empowerment.
Her accomplishments exemplify the transformative power of the Early College High School model, showcasing how rigorous academics, mentorship, and opportunity can elevate students to exceptional levels of achievement.
“Keldria Hamilton represents the very best of DeSoto ISD—scholarship, leadership, character, and ambition,” said DeSoto High School Principal Dr. Leon Darden. “Her historic induction into Sigma Kappa Delta is a testament to her dedication and the strength of the academic pathways we strive to provide for every student.”
As Keldria prepares to continue her academic journey at the University of North Texas, DeSoto ISD celebrates her remarkable success and looks forward to the impact she will make as a future economist and leader.
Congratulations, Keldria Hamilton — a true Eagle and trailblazer.
