DeSoto ISD Celebrates Future of Eagle Athletics at Historic Bond Groundbreaking Ceremony
Smiles, cheers and a sense of excitement filled the air Monday morning as DeSoto ISD leaders, student-athletes, coaches, staff and community members gathered at the DeSoto High School Athletic Fields to celebrate the official groundbreaking of projects funded through the district's 2026 Athletics Bond Program.
The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for Eagle athletics and a significant investment in facilities that will serve future generations of DeSoto ISD scholars.
Under sunny skies, attendees came together to commemorate the milestone, reflecting the community's support for enhancing athletic opportunities and creating modern spaces designed to help student-athletes excel both on and off the field.
"This groundbreaking represents our commitment to building environments where student-athletes can thrive, grow and compete at championship standards," said Karen Lacy, president of the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees. "We are investing in more than facilities. We are investing in the future of Eagle excellence."
The event featured remarks from district leaders and a ceremonial shovel turn, symbolizing the official start of construction on projects that will modernize athletic spaces and support the district's tradition of excellence in academics, athletics and extracurricular activities.
