DeSoto High School recently hosted its annual Mr. & Miss DeSoto Scholarship Pageant, a distinguished event dedicated to celebrating the excellence, leadership, and service of outstanding students. Held at the Fred Nickels Auditorium, the pageant was coordinated by the DeSoto High School Student Council in collaboration with the Parent, Teacher and Student Association (PTSA).
This year, Haylee Jones was crowned the 2025 Miss DeSoto, with Zye’Brielle Williams earning the title of 1st Runner-Up and Lynea Thomas named 2nd Runner-Up. The competition featured six talented contestants who collectively raised $3,000 to support future scholarship efforts.
The event served as a dynamic showcase of student achievement, providing participants with the opportunity to highlight their academic success, personal talents, and commitment to the community. Students competed in various segments designed to reflect their poise, intellect, and character, including interviews, talent presentations, and leadership reflections.
Scholarships were awarded to deserving students who demonstrated excellence in academics, leadership, and community engagement. The pageant’s mission extends beyond competition, aiming to create meaningful pathways to higher education while reinforcing the values of service, confidence, and achievement.
“Pageantry is not all about physical features; it’s about inner growth and transformation,” said Brittany Williams, Student Council Sponsor. “Here at DeSoto High School, we aim to assist young ladies in developing proper etiquette, outstanding character, noteworthy leadership, and a spirit of community—skill sets that will assist them in their post-secondary endeavors.”
Supported by strategic fundraising and community partnerships, the event helped raise funds to support future scholarship opportunities and ongoing student programs at DeSoto High School. The scholarship initiative is part of the Student Council’s larger vision to inspire student involvement, enhance school pride, and deepen community connections.
