DeSoto Independent School District (ISD) and DeSoto High School Early College High School (DHS ECHS) proudly celebrated the final Senior Walk-Through for the Class of 2025 on May 1st across various elementary campuses in the district. The heartwarming exercise allowed 30 scholars to return to their former elementary schools, inspiring the next generation of students as they walked through the halls of the schools they once attended.
DeSoto High School Early College High School (DHS ECHS) offers a rigorous, college-preparatory curriculum that allows students to earn both a high school diploma and college credits. The school is dedicated to preparing students for success in higher education and beyond. The walk-through was an opportunity for younger scholars to see themselves in the place of the class of seniors who paraded through their hallways and an opportunity for the seniors to pay homage to the schools that laid foundations for their successful academic futures.
Dr. Leon Darden, Director of DeSoto High School Early College High School, shared his excitement about the day’s success, saying, "The Senior Walk-Through is always such a powerful moment for our scholars. It's a celebration of how far they’ve come, from their early days in elementary school to now, as high school seniors on the verge of their next big step. It was a joy to watch them connect with the younger students and reflect on their educational journey."
The scholars participated in a special walk-through at elementary schools across the district following a group photo captured on the Collegiate stairs of DHS ECHS.
Dr. Darden reflected, "Despite the busy day, it was a wonderful opportunity for our scholars to take a moment to look back and share in the pride of their accomplishments with their former teachers and classmates. We’re proud of all they have achieved, and we’re excited to see what comes next for them."
The Senior Walk-Through marks a pivotal moment in the lives of these seniors, symbolizing not just their academic accomplishments, but also their deep-rooted connection to the community that helped shape them. It was a day filled with smiles, waves, and heartfelt goodbyes—one that will be remembered by both the scholars and the younger students they inspired.
