Device Care
Please handle your laptop with care. Students are responsible for the general maintenance of the laptop provided by DeSoto ISD. If your laptop is damaged or not working correctly, contact Tech Support at 972-274-8040.
Repairs and Maintenance

Do not take district-owned laptops to external repair services. All repairs and maintenance should be handled through DeSoto ISD’s Tech Support.

General Precautions
Avoid placing laptops on soft surfaces or laps during use to prevent overheating.
Keep food and drinks away from laptops.
Insert cords, cables, and removable storage devices (e.g., thumb drives) carefully into the appropriate ports.
Keep laptops away from pets.
Do not use or store laptops with the power cord plugged in if it might pose a tripping hazard.
Do not place heavy objects on top of laptops.
Laptops should not be lent to other students or individuals during school hours or at any other time.

Carrying Laptops
Transport laptops with care.
Always carry the laptop (with the cover closed) using two hands.
Never lift a laptop by the screen.
Avoid carrying a laptop with the screen open.

Opening and Closing Laptops
Open and close the laptop only when it is on a flat surface, such as a table or desk.
Do not force the screen beyond its natural angle, as this may cause damage.
Ensure there are no objects on the keyboard before closing the device to prevent damage to the screen or hinges.
Close the screen gently using both hands, placing one hand at each corner.

Screen Care
The laptop screen is delicate and can be damaged by heavy objects, rough handling, cleaning solvents, or liquids. Avoid putting pressure on the screen or placing objects on the keyboard before closing the laptop.
Do not apply pressure to the top of the laptop when it is closed.
Ensure there are no items on the keyboard before closing the lid, such as pens, pencils, or disks.
Follow the provided cleaning instructions for the screen.

Logging Into Laptops
Laptops require a DeSoto ISD  a username to login.

Example: Barack Obama = [email protected].
Passwords are formatted as follows: Capital First Initial + Lowercase Second Initial + Student ID + !
Example: Barack Obama = Bo123456!
Password changes can be made through the Classlink portal.

Please note that all district online activity is monitored to ensure compliance with CIPA regulations.

Lost or Stolen Devices will need to be reported to CAMPUS administration and the location SRO.
