The DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees approved a combined tax rate of $1.2125 per $100 of taxable property value for the 2026-27 fiscal year, lowering the district’s overall tax rate from the previous year. The approved rate includes a maintenance and operations, or M&O, rate of $0.7470 and an interest and sinking, or I&S, rate of $0.4655.
For the 2025-26 fiscal year, DeSoto ISD’s combined tax rate was $1.2252 per $100 of taxable property value. The newly adopted rate represents a decrease of $0.0127 per $100 of taxable value. The M&O portion of the tax rate supports the district’s day-to-day operations, including instruction, staffing and services that support student learning. The I&S portion is used to repay principal and interest on voter-approved bond debt.
Adoption of the tax rate is part of DeSoto ISD’s annual financial planning process and reflects the district’s continued focus on responsible stewardship of public resources while maintaining programs, services and learning environments that support students, staff and families. Although the district’s overall tax rate decreased, individual property tax bills may vary based on taxable property values and applicable exemptions.
