Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy PTA to Host Family-Focused Digital Safety and Literacy Event: Ready, Tech, Go!

The Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy (KJTMA) PTA is thrilled to announce PTA Connected: Ready, Tech, Go! (“RTG!”), an engaging, family-focused event designed to promote screen readiness, digital safety, and digital literacy for elementary-aged students. The event will be held in collaboration with National PTA and Texas PTA, with support from AT&T.
Ready, Tech, Go! is tailored for families with children in kindergarten through 5th grade, offering an interactive and welcoming environment for important, age-appropriate conversations about digital safety and responsible technology use. Families will engage in hands-on digital learning experiences while gaining strategies to promote healthy digital habits and safe online practices.
“Ready, Tech, Go! is an incredible opportunity for families to learn together about navigating technology safely,” said Dr. Marsha Roberson, KJTMA PTA President. “Our goal is to empower both students and parents with the knowledge, tools, and resources to build confidence and healthy technology habits.”
One of the highlights of this event is the device donation program: the first 200 families who register and attend will receive a laptop, and additional prizes and interactive experiences will be available for all attendees. The program is designed to strengthen family, campus, and community engagement while expanding technology access for participating households.
“KJTMA is proud to have been selected by National PTA to host this special event,” said Yolanda Hanspard, KJTMA Principal. “It’s not only a chance for families to gain insights into digital safety and responsible device use, but also an opportunity for students to build digital literacy skills in an engaging and meaningful way.”
