In an effort to encourage and support voting scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the previously announced Community Meet and Greet with Interim Superintendent Brent S. Mitchell has been postponed. The event has been rescheduled and will now take place on Thursday, March 12, from 6 to 7 p.m. at DeSoto High School, located at 600 Eagle Drive, DeSoto, TX.

 

Brent S. Mitchell, Interim Superintendent of DeSoto Independent School District, was officially appointed during the February 23, 2026, Board of Trustees meeting.

The Community Meet and Greet provides parents, students, staff, and community members with an opportunity to meet Mr. Mitchell, engage in meaningful dialogue, and share perspectives about the future of the district. The event is designed to foster transparency, collaboration, and trust while reinforcing the district’s commitment to strong community partnerships and student-centered leadership.

 

Mr. Mitchell brings more than two decades of experience in public education, having served in leadership roles including superintendent, deputy superintendent, assistant superintendent, executive director, and campus principal. His professional background reflects a strong focus on academic excellence, organizational leadership, operational effectiveness, and community engagement. Throughout his career, he has led strategic initiatives aimed at improving student outcomes, strengthening instructional systems, supporting educators, and building collaborative school cultures. His leadership philosophy centers on integrity, accountability, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all students.
