DeSoto Independent School District’s  Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy (KJTMA) has been named to the 2025 Texas Honor Roll by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP), recognizing the school as one of the state’s top-performing public schools for its outstanding student achievement and success in closing academic gaps.

This marks the eleventh year ERP has released the Honor Roll list, which identifies schools, districts, and charter schools in Texas that have excelled in supporting student outcomes, particularly among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged populations. This year, 1,076 schools, approximately 15% of all eligible schools in Texas, earned the distinction based on STAAR performance data from the 2023-2025 academic years.

“We are incredibly proud of KJTMA and our students, families, and staff for this outstanding recognition,” said DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools Dr. Usamah Rodgers. “This honor reflects our commitment to high-quality instruction, equity, and student success across every classroom. Katherine Johnson Technology Magnet Academy is a shining example of what is possible when we focus on excellence and purpose-driven learning.”

DeSoto ISD Chief Academic Officer Stephanie McCloud added, “This recognition is a testament to the dedication of KJTMA educators in ensuring that every scholar has the support, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive. It highlights the power of data-informed instruction and a culture of continuous improvement.”

“Our students and staff are honored to be included on the Texas Honor Roll,” said KJTMA Principal Yolanda Hanspard. “This achievement demonstrates our focus on innovation, rigorous academics, and closing achievement gaps. We will continue to prioritize high-quality instruction in STEM, reading, writing, and mathematics to ensure all scholars are prepared for success in school, career, and life.”

The Texas Honor Roll, presented by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence in collaboration with the Texas Business Leadership Council, aims to spotlight schools that achieve remarkable outcomes while serving diverse student populations. Recognized schools are encouraged to share their success and best practices to inspire other educators across the state.
