DeSoto High School to Host Championship Parade and Community Celebration Honoring 2025 State Title Team

DeSoto Independent School District and DeSoto High School are proud to announce a community-wide celebration honoring the 2025 DeSoto High School Football State Championship Team and Coaching Staff, whose historic season culminated in a dominant UIL Class 6A, Division II State Championship victory.
This championship marks a defining moment in DeSoto athletics—the Eagles’ third state title in four years and fourth overall—cementing the program’s legacy as one of the most elite and consistent in Texas high school football.
“This championship reflects the excellence we strive for across DeSoto ISD—discipline, commitment, teamwork, and belief,” said Dr. Usamah Rodgers, Superintendent of DeSoto ISD. “Our student-athletes and coaches represented this district with pride on the biggest stage, and this celebration belongs to our entire community.”
Championship Parade & Celebration Details
The District invites students, families, alumni, and the entire DeSoto community to come together and celebrate in a BIG way:
- Saturday, January 24
- Parade Lineup: 11:15 a.m.
- Parade Kickoff: 12:30 P.M.
- Starting Location: Amber Terrace
- Parade Route Ends: Chris Dyer Gym
- Championship Celebration Ceremony: Immediately following the parade
Fans are encouraged to line the parade route, wear Eagle green and gold, and help create an atmosphere worthy of champions.
“This moment is the result of years of hard work, sacrifice, and relentless belief,” said Dr. Leon Darden, Principal of DeSoto High School. “Our students, staff, families, and alumni all played a role in supporting this team, and this championship is a reflection of what’s possible when a community comes together with purpose.”
A Dominant Performance on the Biggest Stage
The Eagles claimed the state crown with a 55–27 victory on December 20, 2025, at AT&T Stadium, delivering an electrifying performance that showcased the team’s explosive offense, relentless defense, and championship composure.
DeSoto surged to a commanding 27-point halftime lead and never looked back, punctuating the victory with game-changing defensive plays that sealed the outcome and ignited the Eagle faithful.
Championship Game Highlights
- Legend Howell (QB) completed 19 of 25 passes for 280 yards and four touchdowns.
- Ethan “Boobie” Feaster (WR) recorded 10 receptions for 167 yards and two touchdowns.
- SaRod Baker (RB) rushed for 125 yards and two touchdowns, adding an interception returned for a touchdown.
- Damarion Ross (DB) earned Defensive MVP honors, highlighted by a decisive 94-yard pick-six.
“This championship sets the standard for excellence across all DeSoto ISD athletic programs,” said M.T. Tyeskie, DeSoto ISD Athletic Director. “It represents elite preparation, accountability, and leadership—and it’s just the beginning of what we will continue to build districtwide.”
A Legacy Built on Belief
The victory further solidifies DeSoto’s place among Texas high school football’s elite and underscores the culture of excellence that defines Eagle athletics.
“This team believed in each other from day one,” said Claude Mathis, Head Football Coach. “They trusted the process, embraced the grind, and played for something bigger than themselves. I couldn’t be prouder of these young men and the way they represented DeSoto.”
This year’s state title brings the district’s total accumulated titles to 23 across all district athletics programs reflecting the excellence intended in the design, development, and implementation of the DeSoto ISD Triple-A Experience of Academics, Arts, and Athletics.
