DeSoto Independent School District has been selected to join the inaugural cohort of the AI + Education Leadership Collaborative, a pioneering initiative launching this fall in the Dallas-Fort Worth region. The 10-month program is designed to equip executive education leaders with the tools and strategies to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence in education.

Led by Educate Texas, the AI + Education Leadership Collaborative brings together leaders from school districts, charter organizations, and K-12 nonprofits across the region. Over the course of six expert-guided and peer-learning sessions, participants will explore topics such as strategic leadership, innovation, and managing change in the AI era.

“We are thrilled to welcome DeSoto ISD into this transformative program,” said Kerri Briggs, a representative of Educate Texas. “This collaborative will empower leaders with the confidence and vision needed to lead effectively in a time of rapid technological advancement.”

The program’s first session will take place September 29–30, 2025.

For DeSoto ISD, participation in the collaborative underscores the district’s commitment to forward-thinking leadership and innovation.

“Artificial intelligence represents both an opportunity and a responsibility for education,” said Dr. Usamah Rodgers, DeSoto ISD Superintendent of Schools. “By engaging in this collaborative, DeSoto ISD is ensuring that we not only keep pace with emerging technology but also lead thoughtfully—always centering our scholars, families, and community in the process.”

DeSoto ISD’s academic leadership views this opportunity as a chance to strengthen teaching and learning for all students.

“As educators, we must prepare our scholars for a future shaped by innovation,” said Stephanie McCloud, DeSoto ISD Chief Academic Officer. “This collaborative will provide us with valuable insight into how AI can support instructional excellence, equity, and creativity across our district.”

As the education sector embraces AI-driven change, DeSoto ISD’s inclusion in this regional initiative highlights the district’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for a future where adaptability, innovation, and critical thinking are essential.
