DeSoto High School is proud to announce that several members of its varsity softball team have received prestigious recognitions in the UIL 11-6A District Awards for their outstanding athletic and academic achievements during the 2024–2025 season.
Under the leadership of Head Coach Dennis Walker, the Lady Eagles showcased remarkable skill, teamwork, and determination, earning multiple spots on All-District teams and Academic All-District honors.
Among the top recognitions was Helen Broomfield, who was named 11-6A Catcher of the Year for the second consecutive year and also earned a place on the 1st Team All-District.
Joining her on the 1st Team All-District was Skyla Jones, whose performance throughout the season made a significant impact both on the field and in the classroom.
Second Team All-District honors were awarded to Brianna Najar and Averi Christal, each demonstrating consistent excellence in their positions.
Three additional athletes—Cerenity Robinson, Jaden Smith, and Reece Walton—earned Honorable Mention All-District recognition, highlighting the depth and strength of talent across the entire roster.
In addition to their athletic achievements, several student-athletes were recognized for their academic excellence as All District Academic Honorees: Skyla Jones, Helen Broomfield, and Sema’j Johnson.
“I’m incredibly proud of this group,” said Coach Dennis Walker, head softball coach at DeSoto High School. “These young women have worked hard all season—on the field and in the classroom—and these honors are a reflection of that dedication. It’s exciting to see their talent and effort recognized across the district.”
While the season concludes without further postseason play, the accolades mark a strong finish and set a promising tone for the future of DeSoto Softball.
