DeSoto Lady Eagles Track Team: Ready to Soar in 2025 Season 

The DeSoto Lady Eagles track and field team is set for a thrilling 2025 season filled with high hopes, fierce competition, and a drive to reach new heights. With a talented roster of athletes and the leadership of Head Coach Paetyn Thornton, the Lady Eagles are poised to make their mark across a challenging schedule of meets that promise to showcase their skills and determination. 

 

Season Kickoff 

The Lady Eagles will hit the ground running with an exciting series of pre-season meets. Their journey began on Feb. 1 at the DeSoto Relay, and the team will continue to build momentum over the course of the month: 

  • Saturday, February 1st – DeSoto Relay @ DeSoto 

  • Saturday, February 8th – Cedar Hill Open @ Cedar Hill 

  • Saturday, February 14th – Mayberry Meet @ Mansfield 

  • Saturday, February 22nd – Nike Invitational @ DeSoto 

 

The opening meets will allow the Lady Eagles to refine their skills, establish team chemistry, and get ready for the more intense competitions ahead. 

 

The Road Ahead 

As the season progresses, the Lady Eagles will face off against some of the best in the region. These prestigious events are critical for the team’s continued growth and preparation: 

  • Saturday, March 7th – Meet of Champions @ Lancaster 

  • Saturday, March 7th – Blue Bonnet Classic @ Texas A&M 

  • Saturday, March 14th – Timberview Relays @ Mansfield Timberview 

  • Saturday, March 21st-22nd – PVAMU Relays @ Prairie View, TX 

  • Saturday, March 21st-22nd – Jesuit Invitational @ Jesuit 

  • Thursday-Saturday, March 27th-29th – Texas Relays @ UT Austin 

 

These meets will test the Lady Eagles’ strength, speed, and strategy as they prepare for district and regional competitions. 

 

District & Regional Showdowns 

The District Championships will take place on April 2nd-4th at Lancaster, marking a pivotal point in their season. From there, the Lady Eagles will look to qualify for the Area Qualifier Meet and Regional Qualifier, with aspirations set on advancing to the State Championship: 

  • Saturday, April 12th – Area Qualifier Meet @ Waco Midway 

  • Friday-Saturday, April 18th-19th – Regional Qualifier @ Waco Midway 

  • Saturday, May 3rd – State Championship @ UT Austin 

 

With each race, jump, and throw, the Lady Eagles are committed to growth—both as athletes and as a team. The season ahead promises plenty of action, and with the leadership of Coach Thornton, the support of Assistant Coaches Taije’ Jordan, Mariah Crawford, Lamarcus Franklin, and Deshalyn Jones, and the drive of the Lady Eagles, they’re ready to soar higher than ever.
